I noticed that Mick Turner is accompanying a short silent film as part of the Flower Cut Film Festival tomorrow night (2 July) in Melbourne. Also performing with eye-candy is the brilliant Melbourne instrumental trio Silver Ray.

Would love to hear feedback from anyone going.

Don't know if anyone still follows this community, but I heard a little news. Dirty Three are aiming to release a new album in the fall. Truckstop Media is still working on the tour DVD, 1000 Miles and are going to try and have the release coincide with the new album. That's all for now. tah.

hi, just joined this community. has anyone mentioned Silver Ray here yet? Sublime three peice instrumental act from melbourne, being championed by nick cave. sounds familiar? do youselves a favour - they have samplers at their website: http://www.pharmacyrecords.com.au/silverray.html

If you have to choose one of their albums to try on, i'd recommend New Love.

? Felix Lajkó ? [26 Dec 2003|12:25pm]

isa6ella
Also, anyone familiar with Felix Lajkó?

Oh, I do hope so. I've heard a lot of it which made fall in love, but cannot locate the CD's anywhere outside amazon UK. I'm also broke. A trade would be just so swell…

*clears throat*

It worries me that no one ever speaks here. I'm going to ask two questions, then wait nervously to see if ayone answers...

If no one does, I'll try to forget the whole messy affair ever happened. If someone answers, that would be gloriously brilliant, my life would be filled with worth and purpose...

Question #1: Favourite song, or song to which you are most strongly attatched?

Question #2: Where do most of your musical tastes lie? I ask in reference to genre (rock, alternative, classic, something else entirely)...I don't know if there's a specific type of person this sort of music attracts, knowing no one else who likes it in real life...

OK! *waits nervously*

Shepherd's Bush, London Gig [13 May 2003|07:44am]

[ mood | giddy ]

First Cat Power was crap. The woman in insane and shows a total lack of respect for people who are watching the gig. I was there for the Dirty Three and not for her, but Justin told me she does the same in her gigs.
She was coming in and out of the stage, mumbling, shrieking, smoking like a chimney (she even got someone from the audience to hold the cigarette) and siging half songs, forgetting lyrics, saying she didn't feel like singing halfway through a song... really bad...

Oops it seems I can write better about things I don't like...

Dirty Three were great, really amazing nearly as good as the Electric Ballroom gig... Warren was full of energy, his between songs banter was funny , and the bass in certain songs was a very good addition.

no, actually dirty three and one low

my little brush with fame; my boyfriend d- and i were wanderin round a record shop the afternoon before the concert. who do i see shuffling through disks in his cartigan and pink cortoroys but warren. yep! i wasn't too sure so i gave a little wave and a smile across the bins. he smile winked and knodded back. when i got out i sorta couldn't believe it, d- wanted me to go back in talk to him but what would i have said? 'love your music see you tonight?' he knew i knew him. just an exchange of knowing smiles was all i needed.

I saw on the Dirty Three tour page that George Sarah will be the opening act for the Los Angeles show. I hadn't heard of George Sarah before so I went to his web site to check out what kind of music he does, and I really liked it. There's an mp3 and a couple of streaming broadcasts you can listen to here. I highly recommend checking him out.
